December 25 is the Feast of the Nativity, January 6th (this year it will be celebrated Jan 7 as the 6th is a Saturday, they will sometimes move it so their is not two days of obligation in a row.) is Epiphany. The 12 days between them is the 12 days of Christmas or the religious Christmas season. Nativity celebrates the actual birth while Epiphany meaning appearance celebrates important appearance the arrival of the Wisemen, Jesus's appearance in the temple as a child and the Baptism of the Lord (the first Sunday after Epiphany, which ends the Christmas season). This is celebrated by all Main stream Christian denominations who use the Revised Common Lectionary, and the World Council of Churches. Some may refer to Epiphany as Candlemas, but it is not Christmas.

Technically, Xmas is the 25th and the day you are referring to is January 6th and is called the Epiphany. Supposedly, it is the day the 3 Magi arrived with their gold, frankincense and myrrh. This was the day they recognized Jesus as the Christ, which is an epiphany.
