Dating a person is not the best way to find what kind of person they are. Observe their manner from afar. See how they treat other people, go out as a group and watch.

If he thinks more highly of a woman and her needs first. Does he open your door for you? Tell him how you want to be treated and if he does- he is a gentleman. When walking hand in hand down the street- is he on the traffic side? Does he protect you? Does he listen and value your opinions?

After nine months if he is still opening the doors, pullling your chair out, respecting you when you talk and he is gracious to call nd come over when he says is going to do so. If it takes 9 months to make a baby, it should take at least 9 months to see if you got a gentlemen.
Most people in the early stages of friendship have their company manner on.. they dissipate the closer you become.

if you go to a school with a guy, see if he follows the rules and doesn't play any jokes, and if that guy is your friend, ask if you can meet his family, and if your 13 or over, if you like him ask him out on a date.

if he doesn't force you into things, thus the word 'gentle'...
if he never raises his voice when he gets mad at you...
lastly and most importantly,
if he acts like these in all occassions...
