You will need to add some or some other type of heat system

how are you able to tell the pump is working appropriate? If the impeller is broken, the motor will run, even nonetheless it won't pump any water. you could't tell basically via observing it. you're able to call a heating contractor that works on boilers to look at it.

yeah man, my buddy had the same prob. just cut a hole to put a vent right in the hot air duct. Put a damper vent on it to regulate the heat. Just remember that the heat is hotest right out of the furnace so be carefull not to put it too low if you've got kids.

No type of heaters = no heat. Add more baseboards, either hotwater or electric.

You will need to add the heaters to your basement, this is called zoning, will require another circulating pump and thermostat.
