Rolling on the floor laughing..
I've been getting ticked off with myself about that for the last week.
The more I think about it the more frustrated I get. I'm 33 and have not yet started and have no clue as to how to start, but also, know that to save up to about $500,000 to be somewhat comfortable is going to be very hard for me.
Living alone with expenses is hard, rent, car payments, car insurance, utilities, and college tuition is just hard.

Tricky. If the whole writing a bestselling novel and then doing children's books thing doesn't happen soon then I'm going to have to start putting money in a pension fund or finding a rich older woman. Also what happens if you spend your whole life saving for retirement and then die too young? Sorry to be morbid but it has to be a worry doesn't it.
As for how I'd like to spend retirement, I'd want to travel to all the places I haven't been yet, and do any of the extreme(ish) sports my body wasn't too broken for... scuba diving maybe, 2-man canoeing, walking up medium sized mountains. Ideally all in the company of a wife/life partner, but failing that then with a life-long friend.

ALONE!!! The older I get the more depressing life seems to be. There seems to be no hope anymore nor is there anything to look forward to. Look at all of us. It's pretty rediculous that we are all talking to one another on Christmas day. It's obvious that most or all of us will be chatting with each other when we retire with money or without money. It's just horrible that not anyone can spend precious time together other than on the computer.

I try not to look too far ahead. I know too many people that never made it to retirement age. You always hope for the best, but I try not to think too far ahead. My finances don't allow it...lol. But if you live for today with an eye on the future, you should come out ok.

i hope to be happy with my husband when we retire. I know retirement and SS don't pay much now so I would love to work a pt job at a hospital helping people in the surgery units. I pray money will be better and at retirement we can live confortably withouth worring about our bills

In thirty years from now, I picture myself still looking hot. Retirement will agree with me. I hope to be sitting beside the man I would have spent the last thirty years with, looking into his eyes and remembering all the love we shared together. Maybe watching a few grandchildren run around in our yard.

My finances will be PLENTY to keep me afloat. I might get bored at this point and try finding someone with whom to go out here and now. (You'd be surprised at how many old people are placing personal ads these days.) But by no means will I EVER consider marriage or motherhood. I'm just not cut out for it.
