Wii Blue Light?

I just got my Wii for christmas, and I was wondering, why doesn't the blue light in the game load place light up? In al the pictures its lit up. Please help.

The blue light on the Wii disc slot will only illuminate when your Wii receives a message, or when you insert a disc.

It's default is off to conserve power and energy during gameplay.

Rest assured, it's not a defect.
