ALOT of ppl are in general? I mean isnt it sad? Check this out....

"Why Did the Mavericks Lost to the Detroit?

Mavricks rocks i hate detroit for a reason they push the Mavricks down to the ground!!"

This is a real question by a Yahoo! Answers individual. How sad is this really? What the hell do our schools do these days? Im only 20 and I just graduated 2 1/2 yrs ago and I never remember anyone being so stupid that it was almost sad but then I sign on to Yahoo! Answers and see all these dumb*ss questions and answers that it makes me wonder. These are the ppl who actually vote? Help make decisions about our country? Work? What the hell....this is ridiculous. I dont mean ppl that have opposing ideas and opinions to ur own just ppl who cant spell and put well though out sentences together...anyone else notice this?

My grammar and spelling is a problem? Listen im not talking about the guy who doesnt capitalize every word that should be or forgets the t at the end of thought (like i did) but the person who spells the word LOSE like LOOSE...or the one who completely mispells 50% of his words and cant even put together a sentence. Yes I am lazy and sometimes forget to capitalize my I's or whatever, but how are you gonna call me out amongst the others on this site?

Yes, I have noticed this. I'd have to be blind to not notice it. Sadly, I knew about it before I signed up for Yahoo Answers. I used to frequent Yahoo message boards. They were much worse! Sometimes I wonder if people just try to act stupid to get a rise out of others. I suppose I'm just hoping that I'm not really surrounded by idiots. It's a false hope, though.

It's worse for my husband, though. He works in the assessment center at a local college. Some of the stories he's told me about the cranially challenged people that come in there have me gaping in disbelief. What scares me is the fact that they're all going to reproduce if they haven't already.

I think much of the grammar and spelling mistakes are attributed to English being the individuals second, third or fourth language and they are in the learning stages of usage. Consider that in English the verbs and such are presented differently then the majority of other languages, so sentence construction takes practice as opposed to direct translation. Also, our practice of using abbreviations as a shortcut while conversing via type on the Internet , (ppl, ur) etc. , when to use it or not, adds even more confusion to what works and what does not. I just realized I don't know how to use the "ie" or "for example" characters in the preceding sentence. The 9th grade was my last year of school, and often I run into difficulties due to my lack of education and basic skills. I was young, impatient to "take on the world" and believed that what school had to offer wasn't what I needed to "take on the world". I was wrong. Lacking the basics, I denied myself access to places where mediocrity wasn't good enough, locking doors before I even knew what was beyond them, greatly limiting my choices, not being able to apply mathematics to my everyday life or knowing how to construct a business letter or cover letter or to be taken seriously at any level without "the basics" closed much of the world to me.
I guess the reason I am elaborating on this , is the off chance a young person reads this and relates to my impatience with school, they might want to reconsider dropping out or slipping through the cracks of education, just getting by isn't enough.

BUT THE DUMB QUESTIONS......omg!
The askers aren't at all asking dumb questions.
They are toying with dumb people like me who may actually feed into it and answer them.
It's pretty clear that their boredom and lack of creative activities, finds them deriving pleasure from antagonising the community, they think it is funny and cool to disrupt the integrity or flow of the site. Their goal is to screw up peoples interest, and distract people, thus counting the effect as a "win" in the game they play. The overall goal is to destroy the site and laugh at the idea that they had this much influence and power
It may be to the community's advantage to flag the questions asked that are obviously provocation and mere bait.
I sometimes take the bait ,hook, line and sinker too!
I have got to stop that. :-D

I noticed. Words of Wisdom: If you're going to bash people for not spelling right, you might want to improve your OWN grammar skills first. And the "Check Spelling" thing works great, too, since you can use it to check yourself before actually posting anything.

As for the stupidity of everyone here, the majority of answerers are mid-to-late teens, so yes, a lot of stupid things get said.

Most of yahoo's questions are probably posted by under 16's, since they have unrestricted time and access to the internet.
Same can be said for those who answer on yahoo.

Bear in mind that the average American is not a graduate.

Do not be dishearted though. There were some questions I have seen that were well-thought and well-written, as are some of the answers. I tend to ignore the more retarded ones.

Yes, and I agree with you. A lot of the spelling and incomprehensible abbreviations are from text messaging, I think. Word usage, sentence structure and spelling in general, I don't know. Possibly from the same thing.

I risk sounding a bit pharisaic:
I whole-heartedly agree with you and share your misery!!!
It is certainly not only the under-16-year-olds.
In my country (somewhere in Europe, NOT G.B.) even complete analphabets can spell better.
I think it is a culture led (or rather misled) by such clowns as your actual President and his cronies at the White House, who defy all laws of decency and good language.
The first symptoms of a crumbling society are the perversion and loss of morals and the perversion and loss of language (and yours was once the language of SHAKESPEARE!!!)

Good luck

oftentimes picture questions approximately intimacy. that is humorous that they are going to delete a query like, "How became your day?" yet depart the image sexual questions up, even nonetheless there are loads of youngsters examining those. i think hippies are working Yahoo. people who're somewhat liberal oftentimes have not got teenagers, so they do no longer care approximately anybody else yet themselves and allow each and every thing slide. this is why maximum action picture stars are liberal. they have money and extensive residences, so they could no longer care much less approximately American families.
