Hellenestic heroes...
King Leonidas of Sparta...with is force of 300 Spartans and 700 Thespian volunteers took on the Persian army of 200,000 to 1,700,000 to protect the rear of the retreating Greek army that was betrayed by another Greek.
Aristides was famous for his fairness that Athens lead the Greek alliance against the Persians.
Lycurgus was the founder of the martial society that was Sparta.
Philopoemen (the last of the Greeks) he led the last organized resistance of the Greeks against the Romans.
Dion and Timoleon liberated Sicily (a Greek colony back then) from Barbarians and tyrants.
A lot of names I see listed were Greek mythological characters..In some case not even in their proper Greek names. Hercules was the Roman name for the Greek legend Heracles.

If you want real heroes, then you want some who are nearly forgotten. Buffalo Bill was no hero. He was a celebrity. Much of Davy Crocket's history is just a good story, though definitely not all. Adolphus Washington Greely is a forgotten hero, but a hero nonetheless. What about some doctor who made a giant leap in medicine? What about the team who came up with the birth control pill? What about the people of World War Two who made so many sacrifices to provide for the troops. Have you heard of meatless Tuesdays? What about the unknown soldier? He gave as much as any hero though no one knows his name. What about music? Many musicians and entertainers contributed during war and peace. Consider Bob Hope, Irving Berlin, and many others. They placed their lives in jeopardy to help with troop moral. Think about police and firemen. There is no shortage of heroes. Take your pick. Be sure to check your facts. There is a lot of fiction with the legends that were men. Again, Davy Crocket is a great example. Check your facts. Can't help much with the other side.

Don't know what helliniki is. For American heroes you can choose from Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier from World War II, Sergeant Alvin York, a Tennessee sharpshooting hero from World War I, Colin P. Kelly from WW II, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King,Jr., There are financial heroes too like Bill Gates and Warren Buffett who are contributing Billions to charity - yes that's a B for billions. All the doctors who contribute their talent to the poor around the world and are called Doctors without borders.. Hope you can find six from among these.
