Make sure your router is hooked up correctly. Once it is, then go to My Network Places and go through the new network wizard and it should find your router. Plus, make sure your card has the latest firmware by checking the manufacturers website.

Well, if it's a linksys, first of all you want to make sure that you have a broadband connection and not dial up or else this will be a hasle! So you're going to want to plug in your router, and put the software into your computer that is connected to your router. You will then have to astablish a network name and number.

Then you will need to take all the information and put it into your computer that you want to connect wirelessly. Then it might not work the first time if you have internet security because you need to have your computer allowing cookies.

That should pretty much do it. However, if you're looking to connect all your printers and other external devices too, then you will need to establish a computer network by going to Start>Right Click On My Computer>Properties> Network.

I know what your are going through, it took about 2 months to set up my wireless network!

locate your cable modem and unplug it. Connect your wireless router to the modem. Unplug the network cable from your computer and connect it to the port named internet, wan or wlan on the back of your router.

Next, plug in and turn on your cable modem. Give it a few minutes to connect and then plug in and turn on your wireless router. Give it a minute and the light should light up on the internet, wan or wlan showing that it has successfully connected to the internet. Use the rj45 connector that came with your router and connect your pc to an open port on router, anyone will do as long as it does not say wan wlan or internet. Turn your computer on, it should automatically connect to your router.

Open IE and type in the address to configure your router.(refer to the instructions that came with your router for this info)

Most of the default settings should be fine, but you should configure 3 things. Your network name, wireless encryption(wriite these keys down for future use) and your administrative password. save settings, apply and then click okay after doing this.

Plug your network adapter into your pc's usb port or install the card in the pci slot, whichever you purchased. windows will auto recognize the hardware and you may be prompted to insert a cd which should come with it. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows should prompt you that the network has been recognized. Right click the icon on your task bar, then click your network and click connect. You will be prompted to enter the key given earlier, (remember i said to write it down for future use?)
You will be ask to confirm, then you should connect.

whew what a lot of typing, hope this helps!
