Because some people are immature and irresponsible. They also think the world is out to get them or they just don't have a conscience or know the meaning of the word remorse.

People "shift blame" (as I like to call it) because they don't want to deal with the repercussions. One of the beautiful things about the human mind is that we can logic our way into all sorts of twisted scenarios so that, in OUR mind, we're never at fault. "Yes, I did it, but if so-and-so hadn't of done THIS, we wouldn't be here right now." People are always looking for ways to have fun without consequence; it's human nature.
The twisted thinking, by the way, is also why bad guys never think they're bad guys. They're running on their own logic and it makes sense to them, so if you don't understand it, that's your fault.

Good question but it is the truth. It takes a strong person to admit when they did wrong or they are at fault, it is easier for an individual to blame someone else. It does not get better until you accept resposibilty and deal with it or you just keep getting the backlash to your mistake.

This is true! I have always accepted responsibility for my actions, but those around me always have an excuse or a reason why it is someone else's fault!
I don't know why they do it, but I think that they are not even aware of it.
