Because back then people did not know how bad Mike Vick was.
I mean yesterday all running lanes were open and he still couldn't get his team in field goal range and believe me the panthers defense is not that good this year. And imagine this, if Jake Delhomme was playing the panthers would have put up 44 points again. Man i feel bad for Atlanta that they have a Quarterback that is nothing when the NFC conference gets strong.
I wish they would have took Brees, heck i rather have Jake Plummer as a Qb than Mike Vick because at least Plummer has some accuracy, all i know is this: PRETTY SOON MATT SCHAUB WILL TAKE VICK'S PLACE AND VICK WILL BE OUT OF THE NFL.

Because someone told, and continues to tell them that Vick is a great QB, when in fact the man is not even an average QB. Sure, he is a great athlete, phenomenal even, excellent runner. He is not a QB. HE can't stay in the pocket because he doesn't know how, and when he is on the move sometimes he can't hit the side of a barn.

What they have is an undersized running back who thinks he can play QB. And because they beat up on soft teams a lot he somehow gets the reputation as a winner. When they play teams with a solid Defense and offense he collapses. And don't give me the playoff thing, he was lucky enough to have an awesome defense those 2 years that was a big part of them winning several games those 2 years. Now look when their defense is mediocre, they suck.

Yep, they blew it, and now they have to live with it. Atlanta will never win a Superbowl with Vick as QB. You can bet the farm on that.

It was really LT for Vick, Brees was the Chargers 2nd rd pick. Sure LT may go down as one of the best rb's in nfl history. But last I heard LT's been healthy in all his years and him and Brees have only gotten the chargers a early first round exit. Vick has led the Falcons into the playoffs twice already. LT is killing it this year but Vick is the game's best scrambling qb and has a great winning record. You cant call it a stupid trade until both of their careers are over. Nuff said.

Hindsight is always 20-20 vision. I think they got caught up in the hype since Vick is an amazing athlete. However, not necessarily a great quarterback. I am sure pro coaches thought they could develop his passing skills. Such skills do show up from time to time but Vick has not shown the consistency on the field from game to game or the leadership. I thought when they renewed his contract they definitely over paid the guy.
Now someone who looks like the real deal out of the mold of Vick is Vince Young. He has shown great skills at both running and passing as a rookie no less.

They had high hopes for Vick but I think the experiment has had it's chance and time to try a different route. Vick will never be a top notch QB in the NFL. He could be a great WR/RB though...would be interesting to see Atlanta play a few games with Schwab at QB and Vick solely at WR and/or RB.

Michael Vick is an excellent QB. One man does not win the games it must be a team effort. The falcons are a good team but during the off-season they must sure up their offense
