were to close ports in windows xp?

is there a way were i can close the port windows xp in dos mode or block it.yes i do have a firewall.but you know all software has a leak hole in it.what im tring to do is close port 2000(trans scout remote explorer).and icmp port

u can block easily in Zone Alarm

A program called hijackthis.exe can help you disable all unneeded ports permantly however you will need administrator access priviledges to install and use this program. Sorry but I do not know the url to get it directly but the ad-aware forums have a hotlink to the webpage.
