The meaning of binary systems differ from subject to subject. It usually refers to systems that involve two entities. In mathematics, it usually refers to the binary number system (i.e. number system with base as 2) with two symbols or states. The states are usually denoted by 0 and 1. The same idea is used in digital electronics (Ex: in computers) for example the 0 state is denoted by the absence of signal and 1 by the presence of signal(or by any suitable variations).

the one's that answered above are correct. I am sure you have heard the term "byte". A byte is a sequence of binary zeros and ones like 00110101. Starting at the far right, this space indicates either one ore none (in this case one). To the left of that indicates either Two or none. (because there is a zero then it's none) then to the left of that indicates either four or none (in this case 4 because there is a one their). Each time you move to the left one column the number is doubled. (the 4th spot would be 8, the 5th spot would be 16, the sixth spot would be 32, the 7th spot would be 64 and the 8th spot would be 128.
Therefore, 0 0 1 1 0 1 0 1 would be how you would represent the number 53, as there is a 1+4+16+32=53
this is how computers can add. In addition, each key on your computer keypad has it's own distinct byte representation. Notice there are 8 "bits" in a byte. hope this helps

Since this is Math, I would assume that you are speaking about binary math, such as is used in computers. It consists of zeros and ones.
On the other hand, I like the binary star systems, systems with two stars!

Our number system is base 10. We have ten digits and they're place value is 10 to a power (tens = 10^1, hundreds = 10^2, etc...). Binary numbers are base two, they have two digits and their place-value is dependent on powers of two.

It is a set of 1's and 0's that the coumputer reads for instructions. There are languages that you can write in(C++ or Java) that convert into binary for the computer to run a software program...it is also known as machine language
