I like Firefox better because you can customize it any way you want. It's also better security wise, because less spyware and adware companies target it. This might change as it gets more populare, but IE is used by around 90% of web users...Sad but true....

I like Firefox because of the extensions, add ons, and only the nerdy geeky cool people use Firefox and even know what it is!!! good luck.

Firefox is the better of the two by far, for many of the reasons that have already been mentioned. I have always found I/E to be inferior to to Mozilla in almost every way. I don't know why it took them so many years to finally come up with tabbed browsing, and even then the I/E tabbed browsing is functionally inferior to Mozilla.

Another alternative you may want to consider is the Avant browser. I used Firefox before this, but have been using Avant for 2 years and have found it to be the best browser on the market. Here are some reasons why I believe it to be a better browser.

1. Tabbed browsing. The tabs can be opened at the top or the bottom of the window, and take up very little space.

2. The open windows can be set to either open the same windows the next time you start Avant or to open with one home page.

3. Customizable skins

4. Built in pop up blocker which is highly effective

5.Ability to disable pictures, flash animations and almost anything else you choose not to see.

6.The Buttons at the top are very compact, giving the browser much more screen space.

7. It is a quick and easy download. With broadband, it will take less than two minutes.

Those are just some of the reasons I like Avant, I could name many more. Anyway, it's worth a try. Run it next to Firefox and see what you prefer.

Firefox is the best because:
1. Smaller download size.
2. No validation required.
3. starts faster then internet explorer.
4. Browses faster then Internet explorer.
5. Has better security then Internet explorer.
6. Has a greater variety of Plug-ins,extensions etc.
7. Firefox is skinnable.
8. Has better functionality.
9. Has smaller amount bugs compared to Internet Explorer.
I hope this removed your confusion between the two Browsers.

Actually both IE and FFox have there uses.
I use several browsers - each for what they do best.

IE can use activeX objects and for some things like on line virus check they are good. IE starts up faster than Firefox.
You do not get around it because it downloads from
certain MS sites.

Disadvantages: it has not been continually developed, so it is deficient in modern content blocking technique and the deep
system integration and the activeX capabilities make IE a welcome Target for malware designers. Trident engine is not very standard compliant.

Highest use of system resources of all browsers. Trident is not very fast. Presto (Opera), Gecko (Firefox, K-Meleon) KHTML (Swift) rendering engines are faster. The margin between their speed is not big, however. And for many uses Trident is as fast - or somtimes faster.

Firefox has unique XUL extensions for hundreds of purposes.
Very extensible. For some things such as web development
there are almost no alternatives to using it. Constant development, state of the art content blockers.
It is quite secure and very standard compliant.
It has low CPU usage.

Disadvantages: Slow start-up (especially when You have many big extensions installed) and it gobbles up RAM (does not "bleed" and not lock it but tries to get it ;-).

My assessment: Firefox is the more valuable, versatile of the two.

But Firefox is not my personal favoriter (K-Meleon browser is my system default browser! ) - and what is better for You depends on Your own serfing habbits.

I would just shop around - there are also some nice IE shells.

;-) IE there is only one time when You have no alternative:
After sysetm setup You need it to download a decent browser ;-)

Mozilla Fire Fox. Since I switched from explorer, my computer hasn't had half as many problems and it's good with blocking pop ups

The new IE7 is an upgrade from previous versions and has more functionality, with the tabbed browsing, and new security features, but these things have always been there in Firefox. Since Firefox is built by users and not some mindless corporation, it is more stable than IE and has more features people are actually going to use.

Firefox by far. They are the state-of-the-art browser. Internet Explorer if you happen to own a Mac doesn't even have versions beyond 5 available.
