I'm watching a show on history channel, and I was wondering--Assuming for conversation's sake that there have been UFO crashes, what reasons would governments have to keep the evidence and/or information from the people?

The usual line offered is to "prevent panic." The assumption seems to be that even with all the science fiction we have read and made into movies, we simply would not know how to behave properly if we knew there really, truly are other intelligent beings out there. We would, as a species, "panic."

Hogswallop, as Hagrid would say.

I do not believe there needs to be a reason for a government to decide to do something. It could be nothing more rational than a policy adopted way too long ago which has not been re-evaluated since, because that's the way bureaucrats work.

We have literally no way to know, at this time, whether there have been facts suppressed by the government under a "national security" rubric, or whether there is a sufficiently strong underground to disseminate such facts anyway. Because there is the dissemination of lots of information, but without the cooperation of government sources, we cannot tell whether the facts presented are true or not.

Like with other government cover-ups, the fact that there is a cover-up must also be covered up, and they get so tangled it hardly seems worthwhile. This leads me to be somewhat skeptical of the theories that the government has actually succeeded in a major cover-up of any sort. Attempted, I would easily believe.

I believe for any government to admit they have credible evidence that unknown objects are real, it would only open up other questions that perhaps we, as a society, are emotionally unprepared to comprehend--e.g., what if, they are not from other worlds but, as some suggest with strong evidence, they are a separate advanced species that live at the bottom of our oceans? Almost 50 % of sightings are not ufo but suo (underwater). What if they are from a parallel universe or another dimension? Truthful answers could affect our religions, the world economy and create additional chaos in an already unstable world. To me, it would be like an employee finding out through a credible source or viewing a document that he was to be transferred to another region but you do not know when or where or any of the details--at this point, one would have two choices--the first, tell your family what you know but have no answers to the questions or, second, keep it to yourself until the facts are known. In the case of the government and unknown objects, I believe they have chosen the second method.

Imagine how much the world can change by just one ship with advanced technologies.Because we still live in a world with separate ideologies and governments it's a no brainer to keep it secret as much as possible isn't it? Besides these advanced cultures and species most likely have overcome the boundaries of immortality space and time. They already know what we will do with it. I've met some of these people and if they don't want us to have something they just take it away. Our lack of abilities for the most part couldn't keep any of them prisoner very long unless they wanted us to think so. Some of these so-called ships are most likely used by immortals using artificial bodies or intelligence. Any real competition would have to come from people like them with the same technologies and abilities. I think they understand what hostile intentions are and haven't forgotten it.Of course their own planet may have died and they never bothered to look anywhere else until now.Hmmmm. There are so many sites and videos making certain claims. If your smart enough you'll get immune to it all and just wait until it all unfolds someday.

From people panicking, and this might interfere with their political system. The government would try to use those Space Ship and try to make weapons out of it, and the government don't want public to see it.

Well I'll believe when I see.. But I do not doubt there is another intelligent race in the universe..As for the reasons I guess to adapt thier technology to our own for military reasons, would be a good idea..
