Aside from a foot massage (which will feel good, but probably won't reduce the swelling) lying down and elevating your feet is about all you can do. Some women swear by those maternity support hose, but if it's hot where you are I imagine that would be even more uncomfortable.

Ankle swelling in the last few weeks is pretty common. Keeping your skin well moisturized might help with the itching.

Elevate your feet ,,make sure when ankles r elevated they are higher that your heart otherwise it doesn't help to bring the swelling and also reduce sodium/salt in your diet as this by eating too much salt u will retain water and hence further aggravate the swelling.......Also make sure apply good moisturizer to ankles as stretching of the skin due to swelling will be dry and therefore itchiness occurs!!! Elevate as much 4 to 5 times a day follow all of this and the swelling will be noticeably down in 24 to 48 hrs...Seek medical attention if it persists..Also don't stay on your feet your long periods at a time as gravity pull makes the problem worse!!!!!

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Sometimes water retention is caused by an imbalance in your electrolytes.Try eating a banana or potato(NO SALT) the potassium will often set your body straight. In the mean time, lie on your back with pillows under your knees and feet, in order to do any good your ankles need to be above your heart. and stay there for at least a few hours.Get a book!

Drink tons of water...your body is retaining water because you are not getting enough. Drinking more water will allow your natural body metabolism to resync. But also swollen feet, legs, and ankles in pregnancy can be a sign of a serious condition as well, so call your doctor and advise him/her of the situation to determine if an office visit is warranted.

Good luck!

Should help, but I know a bath may be the last thing you want.
Try taking warm bath with some Epson's Salts.

Other ideas:
*Putting Witch Hazel (available at most drugstores) on the compresses may help.
*Take a dose of cayenne pepper (it is supposed to equalize blood flow)

Lay down on couch and put the feet up. Put them up about at a 45 or 60 degree angle so the blood can go down the leg.

Put your feet up as much as possible if you can. Cut back on salty foods that cause you to retain water, and drink lots of fluids!
