What a way to celebrate Xmas!!!!!!!!!!! By closing down the whole town.

London was an absolute morgue over Xmas. Not one museum...not one cinema...barely a restaurant....no buses...no underground.....

Isn`t it just a tad anachronistic to perceive the nuclear family as a living reality? There are many people who couldn`t give a hang about family families and would just as soon miss the folks as see them.

Besides, let us celebrate the birth of Christ in a festive way. Open the cinemas. Open the coffee shops. Open the cinemas. And open the museums.

Next year............................

Are you volunteering to work somewhere if you want them all open so others can be off to celebrate?

Yeah, but then that means that all those people needed to run all of those things are going to miss out on spending it with their family.

I kind of like the fact that everything closes down for one day, giving everyone a chance to unwind and relax without work. You can surely entertain yourself for one teensy tiny day a year...and hope that everyone else is doing the same.

While a nuclear family may not exist in your world, (or really in mine either) I do enjoy spending that time with my kids and sitting down with them to play with all of their toys and stuff that Santa brought them.

Christmas is the one (Christian) Holy Day that is celebrated the world over, and if you happen not to celebrate this day and are disappointed that there is no where for you to hang out, maybe you could think of giving a bit of yourself to those who have less than you. Go to the local mission and help serve warm food to those who don't have. go to the local hospital and visit patients who have no family to comfort them. maybe when you give a bit of yourself to others you will find "the true meaning" of Christmas and you could be happier with yourself. don't be a GRINCH!!!

my wish for you is to find simple joy with those whose life you touch even with something as easy as a 'good day' or a smile.

Maybe because the people that would be working at the cinemas, museums, etc..have families that they would rather spend the day with.

Surely there are plenty of Muslim people who would be willing to work and to enjoy the facilities? It is only a matter of time because there are plenty of greedy owner/sharks out there who would like the revenue.

Duh! They close things down so that the workers can be home with THEIR families celebrating and enjoying togetherness!!! Gee! Give people one stinking day off from serving others to be with their familes! I think it is a wonderful thing to do! We don't always have to be entertained outside of our homes! RELAX, Jack!
