James Brown dies this morning in Atlanta hospital

Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 7:39 a.m. ATLANTA - Augusta's James Brown, the dynamic, pompadoured "Godfather of Soul," whose rasping vocals and revolutionary rhythms made him a founder of rap, funk and disco as well, died early this morning -- Christmas Day, his agent said. He was 73.
Mr. Brown was hospitalized with pneumonia at Emory Crawford Long Hospital on Sunday and died around 1:45 a.m. today, said his agent, Frank Copsidas of Intrigue Music. Longtime friend Charles Bobbit was by his side, he said.

Tupac helpped him stage the whole thing. Partially because he was looking to sample one of James' song on the next album, partially because he's actually a nice thug - so out of the kindness of his heart sorta thing.
