Don't! If your shy, then that's a unique quality of yourself. Some religions say shyness should be found to beleive (Islam etc.) Also getting rid of your natural qualities and modifying yourself will make you a totally different person. And that person won't be you.

Why do you want to get rid of it? I have been shy my entire life and I wouldnt change a thing. I would rather sit back and watch everyone else than participate. In college, I took a public speaking class in the hopes I could overcome my fears. I dropped the class on the first day of class and never looked back. And that is how I deal with it now. I hide, and it works just perfectly for me! Stay shy! People will find you more mysterious if they have to dig a little to get the information. And I have found that a few friends is much better than knowing a bunch of people. I dont have to waste my energy on everyone, rather I can focus all my energy on those few true friends.

Sometimes it's just a matter of not being used to being in groups. I had a problem with it, and I just started putting myself in the middle of groups and listening.Soon, conversation would get directed my way and I would talk more and more. After a while, I grew more comfortable with being around groups. I still don't enjoy large groups of people, but I am quite comfortable with small groups. I also learned that a few clean jokes can go a long way in breaking the ice, as long as they aren't too corny, lol good luck!

Know that you are your own person and if they don't respect that its their loss. Be happy with yourself, and if your not, make a effort to try to be the person you want to be and just do it. Be the best person you can be and you can pretty much guarentee that you made a good impression and its easier to approach other people knowing that your impression is great. Smile, LISTEN, understand, ask questions about THEM instead of talking about yourself. People love to talk about them selves, so its always a good way to strike some conversation. People love people that show them interest. Or people that make them feel important or appreciated for what they do. So hopefully these words help you out!

As long as you are not doing anything bad & as long as you are not stepping on other people's rights, you don't have to feel shy. Just look at them in the eye, and remember that you breathe the same air that they do so there is inferior or afraid. We are all children of God thus we are all in equal footing.

By building self confidence. If you have no faith in yourself, then you are going to fail at whatever you attempt, and no one is going to have faith in you.
