There are many different people and many different cultures in this world. To read the story of a man who found God as a Hindu, a Christian, and a Muslim, read The Gospel of Shri Ramakrishna, or contact the Vedanta society, which teaches the essential unity of all religious experiences and practices.

Speaking of Christianity an islam? It appears the followers of these religions have not assimulated all of the correct teaching. They both have their roots in the vedas, siddha yoga, vedanta philosophy and hinduism, both have been badly misrepresentd to their followers. See www.stephen_knapp.com/articles_to_read One must consider that God has always, in every age communicated with humanity on a level they understood, these past teachings have already been imparted into our being and we should focus on the teachings given by todays sages and saints. Also it has been my experience all saints omit parts of their awareness that you are expected to discover in your own practices.

Religions are mostly based on Holy Scriptures. Of course understanding and interpretations depends on the beholder because each of us is unique, having differences in the brain qualities & possession of spiritual realm (connections to God or The Holy Spirit), the 6th sense, intuition, intellectual prowess, motivation, ulterior motive, dreams, ambitions, drives, different family ideals & principles, city or country cutures, traditions, etc. therefore, degree in understanding and interpretations varies. Also depends on what is profitable to the interpreter and its institutions.

People can't agree on anything and they take the name of God in vain to kill others who believe anything different than themselves.
Christians have killed millions of Jews and heretics. Witches have been burned at the stake or drowned. Christians have gone to war with Moslems during the Crusades. Basically most wars are over religion.
