First of all, this is not a diet like "I need to lose weight" diet. It's a change of eating habits diet. Low-fat doesn't mean that you will lose weight. It means that you will not gain as much weight. The doctor did this in regards to the gall stones. A high-fat diet will increase the chances of having pain and complications from the gall stones.

As long as your doctor monitors you closely, keeping an eye on your weight, you will be fine.

Oh I see at first I was going to say to get a second opinion (which still may be a good idea) but I have heard of being put on a lowfat diet for gall stones while pregnant, if you're unsure by what he means you could always call him/her up and ask for a specific list of foods you should and shouldn't eat I think they mainly want you to stay away from greasy foods and stuff thats really spicy (not sure but I will find a link for you to) I know this woman who is like 4' 9'' and on the thin side who had to follow a similar plan while pregnant they eventually had to operate before she gave birth because her gall bladder was bothering her so much, (the baby turned out just great though not underweight or anything like that)....Happy Holidays!!!

I've never heard of a doc putting anyone on a diet who is pregnant. Did he know? If so just eat well balanced & take care of yourself. Best wishes.
