Im tired of hearing "stereotypes are wrong" b/c in fact they are mere truths. Maybe a particular stereotype isnt right for every single person of that color, race, or creed but in fact it is correct for MOST of them.
Ex: black ppl have big lips, white ppl cant dance, jews are penny pinchers, asians are smarter....they may not be right to every single black, white, jew, or asian in this world but they are right to an awful lot, the majority!
Also, how come ppl get upset when certain stereotypes are given to them but yet pick and choose what stereotypes they want to accept. How hypocritical is that. Like ask, most blks will stereotype themselves as better athletes than whites but get upset when they are stereotyped to like chicken or watermelon and call it racist. Hypocrits.
Anyways my point is we will never get better until we accept that we are all different not the same and that most stereotypes are there for a reason, b/c they are mostly true. Anyone???

No i am a realist. No issues, I could care less with what ppl want to stereotype me with b/c again most of them are probably true. It wouldnt make sense if the stereotype was completely off base like "politicians are honest" everyone would call me an idiot and yada yada...stereotypes are derived from truth...

We live in a PC crybaby culture. You have black comedians that make a living stereotyping white people and you have gay people up in arms because the majority of americans want to keep marriage between a man and a woman. "You can't have your cake and eat it too" Yes, there is some truth in your remarks, but people don't want to see it. We are different and we are being brainwashed not to accept it. It is rather sad IMO.

Hello =)
Stereotypes are broad-sweeping generalities about a group of people which may or may not be true. Indeed some of them have a general truth to them, but that does not make them proper to use.
Being a white man, for example, I don't think I'd appreciate it if I was turned down for dates, say, because of the fact that white people have (generally) smaller penises than black men. That would be a negative use of a stereotype, now, wouldn't it??
Yes, we are all different, thankfully, because diversity is important. Using broad-sweeping descriptions for a group of people, however must always be avoided, whenever possible.
I, for example, like fried chicken and watermelon more than any of my African friends (yes, they're from Africa)......They're also muslims, and they are much smarter than I am.
I am a very religious Buddhist, and yet I am not Asian.
Stereotypes do hurt people, when they are insulting. We need to not insult people as often as we do. Can we not speak in stereotypes, even if we feel we must think in them??
Namaste, and Happy Holidays,

There is some truth in the stereotypes, but generally, people feel diminished when someone stereotypes them. It's considered nasty and politically incorrect because most people today are insecure about themselves and most get hostile at any criticism sent there way.
Hypocrisy is a natural way of hiding a bias, and all humans are guilty of this, one time or another; some more than others.
Political Incorrectness is at an all time high right now; no one wants to admit that they are different from others (we are not all the same); more and more people don't like to cast anyone in any bad light, because it would be unfair to do so.
The fact that life is unfair escapes them;
In summary, I agree with you because most don't accept reality.

There is truth in some stereotypes, which is how they begin but stereotypes reduce and limit things. You could say "all men in my house use the computer on Sunday morning", true, but I do a lot of other things as well and that single thing doesn't describe me very well. Stereotypes are often belittling which is why they are so often use to criticize or get a laugh.

as quickly as I tell people i'm a Gemini they only look at me, and bypass... Oh! i'm uncertain a thank you to take that yet it does get annoying. I even have heard that Gemini's are 2-confronted and loopy people. Gemini's do have 2 sides. I do consider that. I do have a reliable (angel) area, yet once you piss me off the undesirable (evil) area comes out. My increasing sign is Gemini, others anticipate me to be the clever-speaking jokester of the bunch, the single again up with all of the vivid, slightly mischievous techniques (which I do). that's in basic terms the Gemini aura I provide off. whether i've got faith completely affected person waiting in that long line, I look under pressure to those around me. I continuously could watch what I say -- there must be rumors of me being a gossip hound -- whether my comments are uttered with in basic terms the main suitable intentions. greater desirable than something, I are available the time of as witty, and individuals are arranged to be inspired via in basic terms approximately something I maysay!

Stereotypes are generalizations of certain characteristics that apply to some people in a given group. As such there is usually some truth in them, however as they are generalizations, it is unfair to paint all of a group of people with the same brush.

Stereotypes aren't truths, rather they're exaggerations. If you're into exaggerating and creating so-called "fish stories," you might be alright, but otherwise, stereotyping IS wrong. It works the same way historical events get turned into myths---they're overblown so much that they become almost unbelievable and, well, of mythic proportions.

Don't know what you mean, stereotyping is becoming very underground, Its actually becoming illegal, morally, spiritually. I believe it is going to be fazed out.
It was an okay gimmick at one stage for some, but not the majority. It may be kept, but not sure for Her Majesty the Queen of England, at one of the Festivals held once a year in England.
HOORAY, I am all for the faze out!!!!!!!
