My parents started a tradition that we've carried on, in that we do not open gifts until after we go to church, then eat breakfast and the kitchen is clean.
My dad prolonged the excitement further, by sitting on the floor and handing out one present at a time, and then we all watched as the person opened it and everyone praised it or commented.
Our Christmas present exchange could last for hours, and it was such fun!

We opened ours and celebrated a week ago because my husband works out of state and happened to have to work this year, so he couldn't be home today. I miss him so very much! And today is also his birthday! It is sad. But my girls and I plan to go to G'ma and PawPaw's house to be with family today after church. My husband sent me flowers to help me get through, too. He's the sweetest man! I just feel bad for him not having his family today.
