Did the mute kid in the movie "Mystic River" look like an emo boy?

I know this may sound like a really dumb question but I was wondering,was he really counted as an emo boy?I mean the way he walks,his style of clothes,skateboard,hockey stick,personality, looks and hair are so emo like.And gotta admit he's hot!
