If you can touch it - like keyboard, monitor (screen), mouse, printer, etc. - it is HARDWARE. If you can only see it on the screen - it is SOFTWARE. Sometimes software comes packaged on a computer disc or tape, but to use it you have to load it onto you machine and examine it on-screen. You cannot actually touch it. Hardware is what you can feel - that is how I remember it.

think of hardware as "hard" as metal, hence the name hardware means something rigid and metallic. Now you can guess what hardware is. Right, it is anything you can touch and feel with your hands; tangible. They are the parts of computer.
Think of software as something "soft" or light and intangible. They are the programs you run in your computer. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Put it this way.
Hardware is every thing that u can physically touch and feel their material. E.g. u can touch your keyboard as it is a 'HARD'ware.
Software is the virtual content which runs via the hardware. You cannot touch and feel software. E.g. Microsoft word is a software. You cannot touch microsoft word. Even if u try to touch it, u will be touching ur screen.
Hope that helps.
