I've just done that! Get your BT-Yahoo installation CD out and just follow the instructions! (Oh place the CD in the laptop's CDdrive, first.)

First you need to have all of your equipment.

Wireless router
Wireless card for your pc if it is not already installed

The laptop should already be wireless ready, the pc may or may not be, you can find this out by going to my computer and then properties and then click on the hardware tab.

Once you have these goodies, locate your cable modem and unplug it. Connect your wireless router to the modem. Unplug the network cable from your computer and connect it to the port named internet, wan or wlan on the back of your router.

Next, plug in and turn on your cable modem. Give it a few minutes to connect and then plug in and turn on your wireless router. Give it a minute and the light should light up on the internet, wan or wlan showing that it has successfully connected to the internet. Use the rj45 connector that came with your router and connect your pc to an open port on router, anyone will do as long as it does not say wan wlan or internet. Turn your computer on, it should automatically connect to your router.

Open IE and type in the address to configure your router.(refer to the instructions that came with your router for this info)

Most of the default settings should be fine, but you should configure 3 things. Your network name, wireless encryption(wriite these keys down for future use) and your administrative password. save settings, apply and then click okay after doing this.

Plug your network adapter into your pc's usb port or install the card in the pci slot, whichever you purchased. windows will auto recognize the hardware and you may be prompted to insert a cd which should come with it. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Windows should prompt you that the network has been recognized. Right click the icon on your task bar, then click your network and click connect. You will be prompted to enter the key given earlier, (remember i said to write it down for future use?)
You will be ask to confirm, then you should connect.

whew what a lot of typing, hope this helps!

Sorry I thought I was in the Yank side of Yahoo until I read your question.... generally I prefer a straight through connect without the fancy added apllications often added on by service providers.

If you have a broadband connect I do that thru control panel and network connections ... depending you may have to enter your account user ID and password

the only way that is going to artwork is that in case you have nonetheless have been given the 'broadband discs' which you used once you place your laptop up. Do you have a instantaneous connection on yours ?. if so - basically purchase the LT and use your 'broadband discs' in the LT for a connection to the internet - useing this technique you could connect as many LT's as you desire to the internet as long as you have the discs and a instantaneous connection because of the fact the LT has a instantaneous connection outfitted interior.

Its based on what kind of internet you have, wireless or cable. Your laptop should already have the hardware to support it, just install the software to connect it with your account and password.

Just buy a good sim card for your son .
just remove the phone wire from the computer and put on to the laptop.
your big mistake is you should not have bought your son a laptop.

BT will sell you either a router or a WIFI system. Bit naughty you didn't think of this when you bought him the laptop. Never mind, all is not lost.
