What is the best way to clean my balcony's rough cement floor? The drainage is bad, so I cannot use a pressure hose. The surface is rough, so it might wear away the brushes on a machine with brushes. However, I want to clean it with a machine instead of pure manual scrubbing. Are there any good machines for this?

no machines.

power washer is bout your only choice. you can clean it with muriatic acid, it will clean it to new and then some. will get all the pores, etc. but its toxic, needs to be rinsed away good.

this is what is used to prep a concrete surface prior to painting or sealing as well.

PS - you could just spread over the porch a leveling cream, let it harden then either paint the balcony or carpet it in green astroturf. the leveling cream hardens like cement and gets rid of the rough surface.

The best way I've found, by far, is using a product called 'JOMAX'. You can find this at any Home Depot store or similar hardware or paint supply store. Mix the product with water and bleach according to package directions. I use a bug sprayer to apply. I know this works because I was a professional painter and that product was used for cement as well as wood and siding. You let it set for an hour or so and rinse off with pressure washer or hose. If there are serious stains you can use straight bleach in the pressure washer, but make sure everything is protected or you'll have whiteout!

Despite the drainage problem, you can still use a pressure washer. Rent a shop-vac to vacuum up the water.

Depending on the stains present, cleaning with chemicals may be necessary. But plain water can do wonders when you use a good heavy-duty pressure washer.

We used a pressure washer with only water on our concrete driveway and the difference is amazing.

Wet vacuums can be used to remove liquid solutions and water from floors. Dry vacuums are increasingly used to clean hard-surface floors using a hose and wand with a hard-floor head that will not damage floors.

Dry vacuums remove grit and soil more effectively than dust mops, especially in floors with grout, seams and raised surfaces.

I WOULD USE PRESSURE HOSE W/CLEANER SOLUTION. THE PRESSURE OF THE SOLUTION BLASTS THE SURFACE W/O A LOT OF ACCUMULATION. THEN DRY IT WITH RAGS AND SPRAY PAINT IT WITH CEMENT QUICK DRY PAINT. MAYBE TAPE EDGES BEFORE SPRAY PAINT
