Seriously prevention is better than cure.

Good education is going to help people be better adjusted and reduce the instance of mental health problems as well as increase community, which helps people cope when problems occur.

Many poorer countries are forging ahead with emphasis on things such as public education, while western countries slip behind as the standard education falls.

It should never be a choice between two things that are important. Surely governments are wasting money on lots of things (eg, invading Iraq)
