1. The celebrity system of remuneration, where compensation is disproportionate to value added and to talent.

2. The Bush tax system which has virtually ceased to tax the super-rich and put the principal burden of taxation on the middle class (and, in the UK, longstanding tax anomalies that make the UK a tax haven for the very rich).

3. A revaluation of land, due largely to: women entering the work force at professional levels and marrying male professionals; computerization which made professionals more efficient; globalization which concentrated wealth in finance and the professions. (The end effect was a transfer of wealth from those now buying homes to their grandparents; and via inheritance from the latter to their parents.)

4. As college education has risen in price -- even at public universities -- it has ceased to be available to the poor and lower middle class and the traditional means of entry into the upper middle class and the wealthy has disappeared.

The simplest way to put it is when you have money it is easier to get money. Think of it like this: when you have a lot of money in the bank, the bank actually gives you more money in interest because you have so much. Diversely, if you have less than the minimum balance in your bank account you get money taken away from you (5 or 10 dollars a month etc) as a fee not to mention the service charges for overdraft. Success begets more success by allowing the person to use their current success to prevent challenge by those who dont currently have their level of success, and out of the contest to the victor goes the spoils.

The rich had controlled the economy and had exploited the systems so that wealth will go to their pockets rather than being channelled to the poor majority. They had a great influence on the politicians and economic leaders.
