A huge long-term investment is needed. With such a big population that India has, there must be an enormous pool of talents. What is needed is gather such talents in permanent centralised training camps and intensively coach them. But that means a lot of money andt only long-term dividends. Nobody seems to be willing in India ro make such an effort. Even the only event which brought Olympic gold for India, hockey, is sadly losing touch with what is now being played worldwide. Also too much Indian energy and money goes into cricket which is not on the Olympic programme.
