I sort of agree... society usually dictates how one responds outwardly. However, one may have whatever attitude they want... internally in their heads.
I believe that people are most free when isolated. There's no one to judge us, no one to influence us, we're allowed to do whatever we want... we'd be damn happy.
However, we live in a world with innumerous restrictions, unspoken laws, chains, etc. People almost always tend to cave to peer pressure whether consciously or subconsciously. Some of the things we do that we deem "normal," "ordinary," "everyday" are really the influence of society.

Agree!
Man is freer than the rest of all living creatures. We are smarter, more rational, more capable of building technology and changing our environment - more capable of making our own decisions. But we often get blinded to that fact, and get trapped in our own petty problems, fears and societal rules.
We are very free. We just have to wake up and learn to use that right.
