Depends on the computer model and make, but there should be 2 or 3 USB ports (sockets) either on the front, possibly under a flap/ cover, or maybe round the back. Look for one the same shape and size as the larger on on your connecting lead.

Check that your MP3 player doesn't need software installing BEFORE first connection.

If the cable looks like USB but says USB+ on it then it's USB 2.0 and most players are backward compatible but the transfer speed you get will be slower.

If it's firewire and you don't have a firewire port then you're stuffed for today! You can see pictures of firewire leads on this Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FireWire. However, if you have a spare slot in your PC then you can buy a firewire card tomorrow when the shops reopen, install it, load the drivers and then you'll be able to connect.

I don't know of any other interfaces for MP3 players.

Did you get a firewire or USB cable with your mp3 player? Connect the supplied cable to your mp3 player then connect the other end to the pc & away you go!!!

As a last resort you can plug a 2.5 jack into the headphone socket and the same into your PC sound card or a 2.5 jack into the headphone socket and phono into your sound card.
