My friend gave me his old Powerbook. How come I can't download music or listen to internet radio?

I am new to Macs, and not very savvy with computers in general. When I go to some websites to "listen live" to radio, or to play a sample of music, nothing happens. Are there some audio files and streams that are not compatible with Macs? I have a Powerbook G4 with OS X and iTunes

The "listen live" stream may be a Windows Audio or Real Player stream (probably Windows Audio and therefore requires Windows Media Player), and probably will be unable to play those streams. If you know its not Windows Audio, you can try using VLC player to play the stream.

If that doesn't work but you don't have a specific radio station you want to listen to, try choosing a radio station listed in iTunes (I believe they are all free).

Macs can play .wma files. that isn't the problem.

although i don't have the answer for you, i want you to know that reformatting your hard drive won't do a darn thing for you in this area. don't listen to cm. people run around Yahoo Answers telling people to reformat like it's the solution to every problem.
