It's an aspire 3053,it seems to be connected properly but I keep getting a no dial tone message. Any ideas??

Double check the phone line plugged into the laptop for a dial tone. Also, if you have any splitters in the line, unplug them and plug the phone line from the laptop straight into the phone jack. Also try another phone cord if necessary.

as silly as this may sound.. you might check your phone connection or line if you have one, meaning be sure it's plugged in and isn't broken/damaged ..

also you might try a left click on tools, click internet options, click connections and look and see if you have the correct dial up. if all else fails.. remove your first attempt and start over being sure nothing was missed.. sometimes the access numbers won't allow it.. if so, change the one your using if you can

my friend has this problem and all he does is rings a number he knows, like his mobile number, and then tries to connect and it works! (i don't know if this will work for you)!
