I have never had any problems with my tailbone before and did not injure it. It just started to hurt in about my fourth month. Two different doctors said it was because of the hormones that make all your joints 'loosen up' during pregnany.

Im a couple of weeks away from my due date and am still experiencing some pain...although I have learned to manage it and sit on soft things so it doesnt get irritated.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Will this problem really go away after I have this child (3rd child)

:) I've had the exact same thing with my last pregnancy (fourth). sometimes it hurt so bad that it actually disrupted my day to day life. i would leave work early and at the dinner table i would just get up cuz i was sooooo uncomfortable.
it does go away after birth. and not only that, but i was anticipating back labor because of it but i had none. a week after birth i noticed that i hadn't complained for a while about it.
my doc said it was the baby who had shifted the bone, not hormones, and that i should b glad cuz sometimes during labor women have their tailbones broken in order to get the baby out. so what we had isn't that bad, right?
think teeny tiny toes and fingers... it's worth it. they are so tiny and cute, and they are ours...

When you get pregnant after a while you take on a spinal curvature called lordosis. Your middle back is pushed out forward a great deal. Usually women's joints become more flexible with each pregnancy to accomidate for this change in body structure. After you have the baby your spine should feel better. Try staying in a position that is comfortable for your back. A lot of women feel lower back pain durring pregnancy it is normal. Some small back excersizes may also help stregthing the muscles in your back. Consult you doctor about these excersizes if you are considering doing them.

I have suffered with the same thing and was told the same thing.
I do agree with evilive's answer though. The exercising does relieve some of the pain.
I have had back problems since my first pregnancy, and it hasn't gone away for me it's only worse this time because of the past job I had and other things like posture. I didn't get an epidural so that wasn't the culprit, although allot of people I know like to blame it on that. So, it all depends on the health of your body and what kind of shape it's in.

i never had any problems w/ my tailbone till my 4th and last pregnancy. it started hurting in my 2nd trimester, and still hurts now. my baby is 10 months old. I've been to the Dr. and even had xrays but shows all fine. my baby was a transverse footling breech due to placenta previa and it may have had something to do with the way he was laying. good luck!

It could be constipation. Or it could be the way that you're feeling as you're growing. And when you grow you do get pains like growing pains like you got when you were younger and growing. And, this is probably what is causing it. Even though you're still pretty early on it is still stretching and preparing for the baby.
