hey friend...would it be nice to say your question is an oxymoron? After all... people who are suicidal are not going to wait to be sentenced. They never do...instead, they are treated in time ,, there will be an psyche evaluation for a minimum of 72 hours. And if they are still a possible threat to hurting themselves or others, the Psychiatric hold is continued. Until A psychiatrist can determine what medication will best help the individual function in society.

Suicide is the taking of one's own life. Anyone commiting suicide is by definitation dead. What further punishment do you contemplate? Or are you questioning how to address attempted suicide?

That law has been in effect for many years. It hasn't deter people and it won't becuase if they really want to kill themselves, they will. There are many states that decree suicide illegal and is punishable but people don't listen.

why would you punish someone for trying to kill themselves. first of they are trying to do this because most likely they hate their life or are suffering and by killing them your just doing what they wanted to do. and no it wouldn't deter suicides. there are lots of laws that dont stop people from breaking them like underage drinking and speeding.
