No. They are highly intelligent and have a great sense of economy (that is, they are lazy). Most don't consider humans on the menu, and will only attack if they feel threatened or annoyed. They are deserving of great respect and caution, however, because you don't know what kind of day they've had. I was told a story when I visited a South African animal park about a group of Japanese tourists that got out of their car, walked right up to a bunch of feeding lions, and started snapping pictures (mental image of alpha male with zebra leg in mouth staring and blinking at numerous camera flashes). It turned into a buffet.

A conspicuous gun will usually deter a lion attack. They seem to know about guns. A shot in the air will remind them if they start to move toward you. If the attack has already commenced, it's usually too late. You'll just have a dead person under a dead lion.

Actually...NO! Lions do not attack ANY moving creature. They usually attack animals when they need to hunt for their food. Even at this point, Lions mainly hunt large animals such as antelopes, buffalo, zebras etc... and they rarely hunt for smaller animals

Lions can reach speeds of about 60 km/h (37 mph), but they don't have the endurance to be long-distance runners, so they have to come quite close to their prey before starting the attack. They sneak up to the victim until they reach a distance of about 30 m (98 feet) or less. Usually several lions work together and encircle the herd from different points. The attack is short and powerful and the lion tries to catch the victim with a fast rush and some final leaps. The prey is usually killed by a bite into the nape or throat.

Because lions hunt in open spaces, where they are easily seen by their prey, teamwork increases the likelihood of a successful hunt. Teamwork also enables them to defend their prey more easily against other large predators like hyenas, which can be attracted by vultures over kilometers in open savannas. The males do not usually participate in hunting, except in the case of large animals such as buffalo.

And most Lions do not attack humans unless they are harmed. but in recent times, due to lack of food for the Lions, there seem to be a rise in Lion attacks on humans. Unfortunately there isnt a particular way to stop a Lion Attack unless you shoot them which is against the law as Lions are a medium-range endangered Species (not critical)

Just make sure you dont walk around in the savannah's alone especially near water holes, cuz that's the obvious place where Lions hunt. And the best thing to do is probably, NOT RUN but climb a tree and wait till help comes! To scare away a Lion just shoot towards the sky, so that the sound might scare them off! :) Hope this helped!

lion is a very lazy animal. he doesn't attack anyone until threatened. not even for food. the lioness will do that. but only for food. they won't harm anyone unnecessarily.
however it's important for u not to be perceived as threatening to them. don't go too close.
