Their lofty goal is to improve the plight of some "oppressed" group, only to find that they are unable to see that they can no more change society than the stripes on a zebra. Rainbow Coalition is good example: other than blackmailing companies into giving jobs to a very few folks, what have they accomplished in last 20 years? All too often, the unstated goal is often to line the pockets of the founders and give their buddies jobs.

Because the American people are too busy driving 2 cars and having 2.5 children to interrupt their busy lives for a cause. The extent our involvement is often to write a check and forget it. We should take a lesson from the Amish. After hurricane Katrina, they loaded their tools, went to te gulf coast and began rebuilding peoples homes. They didn't wait to be asked, or solicit funds. They asked for no thanks, just saw a problem and pitched in. They do this after every major storm, never taking money for their help. Cash contributions are a poor substitute for action.

Simple. We know their ideas have failed everywhere they've been tried. And most of us know the good of capitalism far outweighs the bad.

Besides, most of their platforms seem aimed at making us equal by punishing the rich and the achievers, rather than uplifting poor and downtrodden.
