No hes not...but.....in my opinion, best defensive end of all time, jesus christ, am a tackle in college and i wish i could play againts him..the guy has too much strength and technique, hes a BEAST, he feeds on these tackles man.. one point u need to look at, he played against Walter Jones, and if u know football, u know walter jones is one if not the best tackles in football history..yea merman had three sacks....exactly..merman is not jus a beast, hes a force, hes 6'4 271, runs like hes 240, yes my good man merman is the best d.e. of all time. the guy will bull rush you, then all over sudden speed rush u and make u look dum..
the reason hes not a line backe is because the chargers run a 3-4 defensive scheme, its a very difficult thing to run especially in todays n.f.l., but to run it u need three of the toughest motherf;ckers in the business, they got merman as a linebacker, but they saw his pass rush and most of the times hes lines up a s a defensive end, so hes not really a line backer, cant cover running backs, too big...14.5sacks on the season, he was out for 6 games i think...beast for real

No he has only played for a couple of seasons. He is not even the best linebacker that the Chargers have had that is Seau. Lawrence Taylor of the Giants is the man Merriman seems to be following in the footsteps of he got suspended by the NFL for using illegal substances also.

NO. Shawn Merriman is a terrific linebacker, but he's juiced. He's extremely fast, but he's juiced. The greatest perform well with practice and diligence, not with steroids.

No. Dick Butkus is the greatest linebacker of all time. Even playing on two knees that were so bad he couldn't warm up before a game he was the most feared player in the NFL. And he didn't have steroids to use.

he might be eventually, but at the moment no. as for the fact about him being juiced, get real. everyone in the nfl is juiced. urlacher and merriman just happened to be the best among the juicers. and yes i know urlacher hasnt tested positive an all that, but just look at him and everyone else in the nfl. there is no way merriman is the only juiced player.

Not a chance. He isn't even the best linebacker currently playing. Look at the Chicago inside LB for that one.

no. I noticed in this last game that he is a great pass rusher but he lacks the ability to get to running backs like he should. even the fact that he has so many sacks is really the credit of his great d-line that eats up the blockers freeing up merriman to get the edge rush. hes a good lb but he aint up there with LT and Ray Lewis.

he is good (they already found out that his supplememts were laced with steroids) but he is only 22 he probally will be if he gets atleast 13 sacks every year
