I've been on the depo shot since Feb of 06. I got on it because my periods were abnormally heavy. The brochure said I may or may not have periods depending on my body but I've noticed that I only get them when I am extremely stressed. I got my first period after the shot in July when I was planning a trip to Ozzfest then my next one didn't come til November when I was planning a trip to Vegas. What I am wondering is if my period will only come during times of stress or if in time it will come more regularly?

I was on Depo for 10 years. You are not supposed to have period on the Depo shot. When you first get the shot it is common to have a period for a very long time(mine lasted 6 months). Then no periods. But if you are late getting next shot even by 2 days you can spot or even have a period. If you are still having regular periods on the shot you should see your dr.

ps....off ? topic....I was on the shot for 10 years and Depo is bad news. The side effects are terrible over time. I gained 100 lbs, was a total biotch, had no sex drive, and suffered headaches all the time. I read that many dr's wont allow women to have them for more than a year time period due to the bad side effects.

if in fact the period only comes when stress then try to relax when you are planning an important event which will help you control your period also talk with your doctor it may be something that can be done to fix the problem

Please rethink the depo shot.

I was on it for FOUR years and it royally screwed my body up.

I gained weight, I was a witch two weeks before my next shot was due, I spotted at inoppurtune times.

After FIVE years you need a bone density check, that's how much depo screws up your system.
