Is there any alternative to being either a liberal or conservative?I don't like to be labeled a liberal or a conservative. I consider myself more in the middle. I am very opinionated, but I wouldn't want to be called a liberal or a conservative. Does anyone else feel the same?
Also, do you think people tend to listen to others without prejudice if they don't know what their political orientation is?

No choice the US is a dictatorship with two parties only, Democrats and Republicans. No one votes on key issues which are cunningly evaded, but on looks and character. Healthcare, Foreign policy, pre-emptive warfare, the growing divide between Rich and Poor, the accountability of the invasion of Iraq, are left out of discussion and whoever among the parties have better looking candidates(which is none) are picked, and whoever lies the most gets the votes. As seen this election the democrats lied they would withdraw but ended up supporting Bush maniac idea openly against the will of the public right after the election to increase the force in Iraq, a clear show of the fact that Democrats and REpublicans don't care on what the public think. Democrats and Republicans are the same parties, sorry you have no choice, they are a monopoly of power and they will continue to play games every four years to keep their jobs which are the best you can dream of, holiday for half the year, extremely good pay, and many other bonus.Just keep listening to Bob Dylan's song cause that's the only choice you have.

Conservatism and Liberalism are only words that describe the most extreme ends of a political spectrum. In actuality, most Republicans are far from conservative and most Democrats are far from liberal. If you are to be a political player your views will tend to be more conservative or more liberal on particular issues, but it's sort of a necessary label. Instead, I would dislike being labeled a Republican or Democrat because those are highly descriptive terms that encompass a wide range of viewpoints that won't be descriptive of everyone's views. I think there's a lot of virtue to being Independent rather than a strictly partisan thinker.

I think most of America is somewhere in the middle, or even a combination of the two parties. Although, at this point in history, if you don't approve of Bush, you WILL be called a liberal.

I think the answer to your last question is yes. It is more apparent when the DO know your political orientation when you DO see the prejudice.

People tell me I am a Centrist. Don't much care for labels, but IF I am forced to have one, I guess I am comfortable with that one. Registered Democrat so I can vote in the primaries but I never vote based on a political bias.

Yes. Become a moderate. Don't vote along party lines and choose who you think is the better candidate, not the better party because neither party is what they profess to be anymore.

To be a good voter you have to be more discerning. You can't just blindly vote along party lines or you may end up voting against your own interests. You need to look more closely at each candidate, their beliefs, their record and their history rather than what they just say as all of them will lie.

Yes, I like your question and I feel the same way and people will want to hear your opinion more than if you are fixed in one or another.I urge you tell everyone you are from another space and not affiliate with any party in U.S. and the people will want to hear you more and trust you with your opinion.

The nature of your question will invariably identify your leaning. Me I am a natural conservative, but this discredited, criminal administration has not and do not deserve my support and I act accordingly. The result is that I am labelled a Liberal. Well if that what it takes to critize ineptitude, please count me in.
