.ca is a typical canada top level domain. However, Canadians aren't restricted to only registering .ca domains. They can register .com, .net and .org domains as well.

E-mail knows no boundaries, it is easy for anybody to get an email address from any country. Officially the extension is .ca, however it is easy to have a .com, .co.UK or any other email extension.

try asking him for complete email because Canada users can also make yahoo accounts on other domains of Yahooo. e.g. i myself lives in Karachi and uses an alternate "@yahoo.co.uk" address.

well generally for Yahoo Canada the domain in use is "@yahoo.com.ca"
