They already have. The American trade deficit with China was $13.6 billion in 2003, more than double what it was one year earlier.

Basically, this means that American purchase $13.6 billion dollars worth of goods from China, and the Chinese purchase nothing from us.

If you are selling, you aren't making money.

The best way to understand this situation is to look at all of the world's great empires over the last 5,000 years. You can already see that the US has fallen on to the path of a dying empire. Time is short.

Take China 20 years just to surpass the America size economy, but its per capita would be that of present day Mexico in 20 years. China economy today is similar in size to Italy or UK, and in 20 years China will have social and economic problems because of the fact that 300 million middle class, and 400 million farmers, working class people will demand more accountability from the government.
Looking at a South Korea style topple of China autocratic regime in the next 20 years.
Look for India economy to surpass China long term because of India tend to be more creative with resources where China just steals technology for the most part.

I live in Thailand, and I can tell you that China's economy is doing very well. Experts believe in 20 years time, the country will be one of the world's super powers.

But I think in time they would have to move to a functioning Democracy.

5- 10 years it is my estimate and right now the U.S. has trade deficit with China.Because, Wal Mart in my opinion brought so many cheap stuffs to the U.S. market and export jobs to china as well. So it will not be long and watch out for the jobs in U.S. will be vanish at no trace.

It amazes me how these benighted Bush Republicans don't seem to realize that China has FUNDED the Iraq War.

We are in hock to China, to the tune of HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS in US treasury bonds.

Did you think a war was free??

We are in enormous debt to China. Thanks, Bush. Thanks, Republicans.

Answer: about 2 years. Thanks, Republicans!!
