We have to understand the difference if any and what is the correct name, then it will be alright-
There is nothing named as Bengal - It is West Bengal, a State of India. Also there is nothing called Bengla Desh - It is Bangla Desh. The similarity here is because it was a united Bengal and the language talked in both areas is Bengali. So West Bengal is different from Bangla Desh and letters will not go wrongly.
Secondly, Mallika is the name derived from Malligai a flower called in English as Jasmine. It has been wrongly named to you as MALIHA. So if you like you can have it corrected as Mallika.
Thirdly Bombay has become Mumbai, Calcutta has become Kolkotta, Madras has become Chennai and so on reverting to their old name.
So Bangalore's correct and previous name is Bangaluru. The people and government of the State have preferred to have the old name. It is alright. Thnx (Meaning Thanks)-

It is right to change the names of the cities that were mispronounced by the Britishers, Mumbai was called Bombay, Kolkatta was called Calcutta and Bengaluru was called Bangalore. We would not call Gandhiji as 'Ghandi', would we??
However, you need not worry about the letters. It will not go to Bengal if you use the pin codes which is very essential while sending post.

He He He... funny explanation... but dont worry . you will be called Bangaloorian , no matter what the change is... uru means town/city.. original name of bangalore was Benda kaluru... the story goes like this ..In this village long long ago ,some travelers used to cook some lentils on the firewood ..and would serve others too who were tired travelling on foot... so the name got stuck as Benda kaluru[ cooked lentil place].... britishers stylishly would say Bangalore..... now our people want to call it Bengalooru.... like pune, mumbai etc... wats in a name? a rose is always a rose whatever name its called:).....no other city except mumbai is as cosmopolitan as bengalooru, which attracts global crowd here..
so cheer up... I will tell the postal people to deliver your letters to your door step promptly... he he he ..

Guess the NETAS have nothing better to do than propose name changing of towns. Its definitely better than name slinging I think. So we now have Pune Mumbai Kolkatta etc , with Bangalore n Jabalpur joining the list sooner than later.

How I wish the politicians would apply themselves to doing up the roads of Bangaluru instead of bothering about what it is called!!
After all, a rose by any other name . . . .
