No, not you that was not only rude and weird but totally unacceptable at the dinner table. This is going to sound random, but I was reading the paper yesterday, and it stated that because people tend to get so frustrated during the holidays that tensions mount and people begin to fray around the edges. So the article suggested that people take time outs and spend a few minutes alone, or simply go to a quiet place. This works I tried it. Besides, if you think about it, how often do you really spend so much time with these people. Only a few spare days of the year. So best of luck, hopefully that was helpful to you.

You know what? These rules need to be established, between you and your husband and then stand firm. We had decided that poop was not a conversation, as the kids got older(how old are your kids? Still very young? Potty training?)we said, "You can talk about whatever you'd like with the bathroom talk, just not at the table." That was that! They may have tested the rules, but we followed through, so be firm, and be consistent. Nothing really grosses me out, it is just teaching them more about good table manners, etc. Every household has their own rules, good luck!

Last time I checked poop is a normal bodily function that every man woman and child and animal must do. It is a vital part to our own humanity. If you can not handle conversations about humanity then perhaps you should lock yourself in a hermetically sealed chamber and see how long you might last without pooping. I am sure your view point about it will change.

That is very rude to begin with and more rude when they continued after they learned how you felt about it. Such disrespect.
I don't understand people like that, but I was never one for any type of toilet humor.
I would've left the table.

if you don't like the conversation, get up and leave the table. Its kind of rude to discuss stuff like that at the dinner table, however different families think different stuff is rude.. maybe your family is more open to different discussions.

I never even hesitate to say "Can we talk about something else?"
but thats just me.........
It is weird, but its only rude if they continue after you voice your request to change the subject. Generally I guess if no one objects to the topic it will continue.
