I'm working part time to get through school for a degree in chem engineering. The people I work with seem to be all of the same caliber. Rude, loudmouthed, foul talking, cigarette sucking, vicious gossips! If I dare to get around any of them, they eye me suspiciously, so I try to avoid them to keep them from asking me rude and invasive questions.Last week I was placed beside one of them for a job assignment half the night. I tried to keep silent and keep my nose to the grindstone. But I could feel her eyeballing me. I dared to look up..and that triggered the 1st question "so, do you have kids?" That's always the question they first ask to get things rolling. Then its "are you married"...then "your not dating anyone?" "how old are you?" And finally the topper "have you ever even had sex?" Enough said.Obviously she's just gathering her gossip material on me.
So how do I deal? If I say anything like "its none of your business" I know I'll be putting myself in the gossip zone for sure.

I had a similar experience in a work place and I would say "I mean no disrespect whatsover but I prefer to keep my personal life personal"

Unfortunately in this environment breathing gives them something to gossip about. Your really in a no win situation regardless of what you do or say because your surrounded by people who will repeat everything they say and hear. Remind yourself that your not there forever and if they don't like that you want to keep thing's perosnal then at least their not disliking you for something about your personal life. Good luck with these GOSSIP MONGERS! '-)

nicely, in my opinion, i could answer questions like "do you have young ones" and "are you married" as they are no longer extraordinarily invasive. Afterall, you do artwork with those human beings, so as that they're going to opt to appreciate some minor information approximately you in basic terms with the aid of fact they artwork around you. Even "how old are you" is probably no longer an extremely rude element to ask below those circumstances. while they get into something regarding intercourse or something so very own that it pushes the sting of the envelope previous the mild of genuine looking interest a pair of co-worker, purely smile (rather) and say, "oh, enable's no longer get into that" or "we'd greater effective no longer bypass there". in the event that they push the factor, THEN purely say "i could extremely no longer communicate that"...then replace the area.

Go in one day in a Black CAPE and a White mask and scream! "SHOW ME THE MONEY!?" Then stand on the furniture and Yell, " I LOVE THAT WOMAN!"

Then reach in your bag of goodies and take out alcohol and offer everybody drinks Shoutting "I'm an A$$! Let's get WASTED!"

You'll be the talk of the office for sure! Popular too!

Give them ridiculously wrong answers, and just don't give a sh!t what they think of you.

Do you have kids? No, the government has forbid me from breeding because of instabilities in my gene pool.

Are you married? I would be but the government has chosen to make it illegal to marry my sister (or brother, cousin, pet goat, fill in whatever you want just to mess with their heads).

Have you ever had sex? Does getting an anal probe by an alien count?

Feel free to adjust the above answers to ones more suitable to your liking. But whatever you choose, make sure to mess with their head(s).

I don't believe everyone wants to know everything about you, stop being paranoid. Maybe folks just want to be friendly. Do you believe when you get your degree that you will be surrounded by articulate, politically correct, non invasive people? How do you think they perceive you? They may think you're a selfish condescending schizophrenic. When we're at home we can choose who we want to be associating with, however the work place is another world .

Wow, you have to be one of the most paranoid people I have ever seen on Yahoo answers.

Did you stop and think that maybe she was just showing some interest in you and your life?

No wonder all these people look at you funny when you get too close.

No, no. For some reason I enjoy people engaging me in these types of conversations. Most people enjoy talking about themselves. If you don't have anything to be ashamed of, be unapologetic about who you are and why you're that way. You will find people will respect you for it.

"It's none of your business."
"I won't answer that."
ignore them.
Don't give them any ammunition they could use later against you.
My favorite? Walk away, hang up the phone, close the door on them.

Ask them "why do you want to know"? I did that to a nosy co-worker of mine. She answered "because I'm just interested". I said "no you're not, you're just nosy". She never asked me a personal question again.
