well, im almost 16, and im aware diet pills arent good, but im not really looking to be talked out of it, rather than actual facts. but anyways, i'd been taking it a few days, [half a pill, then the last day, a whole pill.] and noticed no effect, except a pounding headache one day. i stopped taking them yesterday after i got in a car accident and was prescribed tylenol with codeine. so basically, my questions are what damage can taking trimspa really do, why is it not working [not stopping cravings, giving me energy, nothing.], and would it be safe to be taken with codeine? [or what would it be dangerous to be taken with?

-edit-
i was taking a pill or half a pill because the intended amount was for someone 18+, and my friend said the bottle said take 1 or 2 pills a day.
im getting them free, so no concern with price.
and last, this might be a bit off-topic, but what about codeine or trimspa and alcohol, is that dangerous or anything, cause seriously, its gunna be new years... hah.

I would suggest you discuss your medications, especially the combinations, with your pharmacist first. Maybe there are substitute medications your body can tolerate without side effects. This is their area of expertise and you pay for the advice anyway--the dispensing fees and the high cost of your medication include the advice. Good luck with your weight loss and have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I don't think necessarily that diet pills "aren't good". But I can tell you that in my experience, even if you do take the 4 pills a day-it still doesn't work for most people. Over the last few years, all over the counter diet pills have had to be reformulated to comply with federal laws that have outlawed key ingredients, and bottom line is this-there aren't really any effective ones anymore. Sometime next year, there is supposed to be a new formulation of processed hoodia that will be marketed, and that's the best news for a long time as far as appetite suppressants go.
There are prescriptions that work fairly well-but 99% of the over the counter stuff is just junk now.
There are some herbal things you can try that will help, and they are safe and inexpensive.....
5-htp......is a mood enhancer-and it is said to have appetite supressing and metabolism boosting effects.
B-12.....try the sublingual tablets or strips that dissolve on the tongue-they work better than in pill form. They boost the metabolism and give you energy.
Both can be bought at any walmart or drug store, and the only drug interaction is that the 5-htp cannot be taken if you are on antidepressants.

To be honest, alot of diet pills do not work for anyone. I have tried Trim spa and wasted my money on many other diet pills, and it did not help me. I finally, went to see a nutrients to get some advice.
A couple of things helped me lose weight within a month.
Do not eat fruit by itself or it turns straight into sugar. Eat it with a teaspoon of peanut butter. No processed meats. No sodas or juice [the juice will turn into sugar] Drink lots of water, tea [no sugar] add honey. If you have to drink a soda, drink Diet Rite. One a day is all you are allowed. When it comes to pasta, eat wheat pasta. No bread unless it says 100% Wheat. I ate a lot of oatmeal. I would walk for at least 30 minutes a day. 2% milk.
Plenty of raw veggies..
There were many other things but i do not have enough room. I suggest you see the school nurse or make an appointment with your doctor, they will show you what you can do without diet pills. I did not believe it would work and i lost 10 pounds in one month. It is easy once you get use eating healthy. Good Luck! it really does work!

DON'T MIX PILLS! OR even common over the counter drugs!Tylenol with alcohol does a lot of damage to the kidneys, and I'm sure there are that people don't realize it.Pills are being pushed more in this era than ever before. Exercise is the best remedy for many many ailments in prevention. Your young and I say if you keep to it for a year or longer you would be setting yourself up to rid yourself of many heartaches.Replacing sugar with real food will mess everything up! It's hard at first, but believe me! It gets easy-er,and that road is a lot shorter than you think. Especially the rest of your life! Be kind to yourself and Get mad! And for God's sake find a nurse or doctor to explain this!

Diet pills don't work. All they can do is give you a temporary decrease in appetite at best, and give you horrible side effects at worst. You end up gaining it all back and then some. If you want to lose weight, there are ways that will actually work, without making you sicker.

Hi.Read this for known side effects.Apparently it can trigger Migraines, which explains the headache that you experienced. It is safe to take with codeine. The recommended dosage is 4 pills a day, which could explain why you think it hasn't worked for you.But if 1 pill gives you a headache, you best try alternative methods to lose weight.
Trimspa side effects and concerns
1. Trimspa is expensive. If you take the recommended amount of 4 pills a day, one bottle will last 22 days. The retail price of a bottle of Trimspa is $34.95, which adds up to more than $48 per month.
2. Trimspa no longer individually lists the ingredients. There is no way of knowing how much of each ingredient is in a single Trimspa capsule. Trimspa used to list each ingredient separately, but now the label merely indicates that there is 75 mcg of chromium and 667.5 mg of an "x32 proprietary blend" containing glucomannan, cocoa extract, green tea extract, hoodia gordonii, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, glucosamine HCL, citrus naringin, and vanadium. Companies do this to protect their formula, but it makes it impossible to properly evaluate it.
3. Trimspa side effects may include anxiety and insomnia. Most people's cravings occur in the late afternoon and evening, however taking Trimspa in the late afternoon and evening may be too stimulating for some people and can cause insomnia, anxiety, palpitations, and restlessness.
Although Trimspa no longer lists ingredients and their amounts individually, previously, each pill contained 125 mg of green tea extract. The total daily intake of 4 pills a day would provide 500 mg of green tea extract and 200 mg of caffeine, which is roughly equivalent to two 8-oz cups of coffee. The cocoa extract is also stimulating.
4. The arthritis supplement glucosamine in Trimspa? Trimspa says that glucosamine prolongs the amount of time glucose stays within the bloodstream after eating. So let me get this straight - glucosamine can increase blood sugar and worsen glucose tolerance and this is good for weight loss? I don't think so. Read my article on glucosamine and insulin.
5. Trimspa may trigger migraines. The cocoa extract in Trimspa contains tyramine, which can trigger migraines in susceptible people.
6. Trimspa shouldn't be taken with MAOI antidepressant drugs. MAOI drugs include Nardil, Parnate, Eldepryl, and Marplan. These drugs react with foods containing tyramine, such as cocoa, and may cause a dangerous rise in blood pressure, as well as headache, nausea, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, possible confusion, psychotic symptoms, seizures, stroke and coma when combined with MAOI antidepressants.
7. Trimspa contains naringin, the compound in grapefruit that can interfere with the metabolism of many common prescription drugs. Naringin can increase blood levels of drugs that are metabolized by the intestinal cytochrome P450 3A4 system, raising the risk of toxicity. The label on the Trimspa bottle doesn't properly caution about potential drug interactions. Some of the drugs that interact with naringin include:
* Antiarrhythmics - Amiodarone (Cordarone), disopyramide (Norpace), quinidine
* Anticoagulants – Warfarin (Coumadin)
* Calcium channel blockers - Felodipine (Plendil), nicardipine (Cardene), nifedipine (Procardia), nimodipine (Nimotop), nisoldipine (Sular)
* Statins - Atorvastatin (Lipitor), lovastatin (Mevacor), simvastatin (Zocor)
* Immunosuppressants - Cyclosporine (Sandimmune, Neoral), tacrolimus (Prograf)
* Protease inhibitors - Saquinavir (Fortovase)
8. Trimspa shouldn't be taken by people with shellfish allergies. Trimspa contains contains glucosamine. The glucosamine in supplements is derived from shellfish shells.
9. Trimspa contains food dyes and additives. Trimspa contains the food dyes FD&C Red #40, and Aluminum lake (blue dye) and other additives. This isn't specific to Trimpsa - food dyes and additives are found in many prescription drugs and foods. I recommend avoiding them.
