Hey guys,
I have installed Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 8.1.1.314 on my computer but now I bought Norton Internet Security 2007 which I want to install. Unfortunately, it says I have to uninstall the corporate edition antivirus first but I go to add/remove programs and remove it, at the end of the process it says fatal error. I restart my computer and everything is fine.
However when I try to install NIS 2007, it tells me to uninstall corporate edition again. I look in add/remove programs and it's no longer there. So, now I dont know what to do. I tried to reinstall Corporate Edition and remove it again. Still the same problem and I still cannot install NIS.
I have windows xp pro on my computer.
Anyone knows what to do?
Thx.

I had to go to the Nortons homepage and find the removal tool. It will remove 2003-2007 fast and easy. It is less than one MB d/l.

You can download ccleaner for free here: http://bit.ly/1Bk5V5C
First open CCleaner
Go to the Cleaner tab and you will be confronted by a very confusing lineup of checkboxes.
To make this brief, below is my recommended setup:
Under internet explorer check temporary internet files, cookies, and last download location. Most users don't really need this stuff. keep history and bookmarks unchecked, history is a maybe, but you don't want to lose bookmarked sites. You can normally leave Windows Explorer, System, and Advanced alone.
Run CCleaner and it will start deleting files.
afterward it will present you with a list of the files deleted, you really don't need to go through it as it will be several pages long.
The registry cleaner is recommended for slightly more advanced users. Use it after uninstalling programs as they will often leave behind incorrect registry entries.
If you decide to run Registry cleaner then review the items detected and always back up the registry (I keep a folder aside for this)
The Tools tab lets you uninstall programs and set startup programs. Why do you need this if Windows has all of these features? Especially with Vista Home Ed. The windows defender software explorer( startup programs) doesn't pick up some entries (however software explorer is easier to use).
Using CCleaner to uninstall programs and then check for leftover registry entries takes less time.
Under Options you can determine how CCleaner cleans your files. I leave this alone.

Hello. This tool should definitely do the job. It's from Symantec themselves and is free for download.

It might be wise to also run a registry cleaning tool like CCleaner
after running the Symantec Removal tool. You can download CCleaner at http://ccleaner.com.
Hope that helps!

Yes, you will have to use Symantec's removal tools to completely get rid of eveything for the Corp Ed. But IMO, you were probably better off with the Corp Ed. Been there, done that. Good Luck.

You again try to uninstall the saft ware. Go to start, programs and select that program and right click on the program and select uninstall. I can give a few links that offer free virus and spyware removers...!You may be having a virus or spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewido are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at

Thats the way Symantec products stick like a leech to your computer. Just go to their website and seek for their step-by-step uninstallation process. And after you get rid of it, be prepared to invite a second leech, NIS.
