I'm from Japan. One of my friend's daughter did unexpected hospitalization in the studying abroad for short time in San Francisco .
She left fortunately hospital though she was hospitalized for two weeks, and she had no operation or something, various inspections were received.
Afterwards, surprising amount of money was claimed by the hospital though she returned home straight because she carried insurance.
It cost about 1.3 million dollars in total. Japanese yen, 15,000,000.
My friend made me see the details of the charge. I thought every treatment was too expensive.
Is it reasonable in USA?

You sure that is not in yen? 1.3 million U.S. dollars is no where near reasonable. Two weeks in a hospital should not run more then 5,000 to 50,000 U.S. dollars. Thats is even dependent on what types of major surgery she needed.

confident... 2 years isn't that long of a time, and because she knows in 2 years i'm going to be back 2 million money richer, this almost seems a no-brainer. If i finished college and have been given provided an extremely reliable activity far, distant, i does not make that 2 million, in any case. that's no longer as though the question is completely severe all ties, then that'd be a no.

It greatly depends on a lot of the procedures and such.......I know quite a few people who were only in the hospital for a few days but with ICU and neonatal ICU it was a half a million.....five days half million. I would say two weeks for that price isn't too bad......rip though isn't it?

It depends. What procedures were performed?

Besides, are you sure about the charge? For example, did you actually see a bill for services, or did you just hear about it?

Let's see...cost of medical supplies...the high wages paid to workers...insurance costs.....cost of uninsured treated......they probably got off cheap. 1 day cost me about 5000

Not reasonable, but not unbelievable either as an "out of network".
