India, doesn't get much invesment from the western world, compared to china's. The government of india is rank as the most corrupt nation on earth. The states in india fight amoung themselfs. India is a nation on a piece of paper, but physical india is many different nations, with many different peoples and cultures. Until they get their act together india will be a stable and active super power. Right now, india is a world power.

China commands economy from the top, and India its more market based actually. Indian farmers have more land right than does a farmer in China. The poltical system in India will in the long term foster faster growth than China because India will depend on its own people instead of theft of technology like China does. I see India overtaking China long term economically becaues of more advanced legal , finiacial, poltical system. India will build the highways, rail, communications, but China will depend on India for legal, finanical, IT, medical. As China will depend on Chinas construction, mining, manufacturing assemblies.

I doubt this is a serious question. But I want to vent out whatever I have on mind since many days.Okay, India shouldn't be compared to China, ever. It's insane! China wasn't colonised, invaded as much as India was. India has got ACTUAL freedom in last 65 yrs. It was frequently invaded and ruled by Mughals,Shkas,Hoons and Brits for around 1000 yrs or so. So I think it should be compared to Mexico,Brazil,Sri Lanka,Phillippines etc. not China. Situation of India is pathetic. Agreed. But 'bad English accents' really? What Indians can do for that? You can't change your accent. As for rapes, that bs happens everywhere. Many other Indians will disagree here, but attitude of Indians themselves plays a huge role here. I have noticed this about Indians (though I'm one) that Indians get overly defensive when someone 'outsider' criticises India. Many Indians won't admit the flaws in Indian culture,India. They will do their best to defend them. For example,if you criticise the rampant female infanticide or gender selective abortions, they will strongly disagree and say 'these things happen only in villages' completely ignoring the fact that it happens in cities too. Then they will start bragging how Hinduism gives women status of mother, goddess! You can improve yourself only and only when you accept your flaws. But many Indians don't do that! Why developed countries are 'developed'? Because they also have problems, but they admit flaws I'm their culture and improve themselves. These days,Indians love to blame everything on ' corrupt politicians'. But come on, POLITICIANS DIDN'T COME FROM MARS OR ANYTHING! They ARE product of YOUR FLAWED SOCIAL SYSTEM. I grew up in USA,I'm 22 now. I never saw any traffic police in USA take bribe when someone breaks rule. But traffic police in India do take bribes. Corruption starts from HERE and ends at politicians. Social system in India is deeply flawed-it's very sexist, ageist and classist. That's the root of all problems. Edit-that dude below me is crazy!

Ofcourse India is lagging behind China in some aspects. But whatever China is claiming of its development are not realiable, with any verifiable data and its modele also may not be suitable to us.

We are lagging behind due to shortsighteness of our rulers and also their pro-US policies. India has emerged as the fourth largest economy in the world, inspite of having finance ministers like Jaswant Singh and Chidambaram. Our strength is our people, where Chinese strength is their government.

The Chinese polices are crude, violent and undemocratic.

1. india's economic reforms started in 1991, while china's in the 1970s. so they have a head start
2. in china, if the govt wants 2 set up an industry, it can forcefully relocate people for land. but in india, the government cannot do this else they would ned up losing a vote. again, its communism vs democracy

Please bear in mind that, nothing is perfect in this world. The world countries are inter-dependent on each other. This means that China needs India in IT and Technology and India needs china in construction. And in the next decade, China may become IT leader of the world.

Well the simple answer to this being that "slow and steady wins the race"...India is a democratic country.
We cannot force or terrorise people....
India is emerging as one of the superpowers in the world..Remember Arcelor Mittal deal etc..etc..
What we lack is a good road network.
We do not have motorways or freeways.
The result being that a lot of food, precious food, milk and perishables are wasted as they cannot be transported that fast.
But things are changing and they shall change.
Hope!
