i mean he is the top QB of the nation he has 53 tuchdowns and 4,990 passing yards both leading the nation in those numbers. I dont think the heisman should go to Troy Smith (basicly voted for him just because of the teams record)

i just watched that game and all i can i say from that is...WHOA..he the payton manning of college football....but...look at who they played against, asu is not really comparable to the teams ohio st and arkansas played, i dont think colt would do that kind of thing vs. michigan..but i love the guy, his passes are so precise omg..but i think if he plays michigan he'd have really bad numbers, that offensive line for hawaii is big!! but i watched them, they are not as athletic, plus the secondary for asu was garbage, imean how do u turn a 5 comeback route into a 72yrd reception..., that number 81 guy had 8or9rec. for 300yrds, i mean cmon now..thats lame..asu got blew out by oregon state, their defense gives up an average of approx 300 yrds a game, i think this game was over in the first minute....but i give him next year he should win the troughy hands down if he doesnt choke..other wise he shoulda been at least number 5 on the heisman race..

plus if he played pac 10, big 10, sec kinda competition he'd be as good as john booty at usc..yea not that good, but look booty is gonna get better, but colt playin in the wac next year, hes gonna get sloppy and over confident and his tag price is gonna dry up, playing in the wac i think he doesnt get drafted and we all forget about his college career, i dont think he gets any better, i think he should go to the league right now..

Maybe not the winner this year, but he should've been a lot higher than 6th.

The reason he didn't receive as much credit as he deserves is the prevailing mindset in Div 1a football, which basically openly discriminates against any team not in a "BCS" conference (unless you're ND). And that's not going to change because the people with the power want to keep it that way.

But as far as Brennan... I think all these people who keep saying he's not that good - just a product of a pass happy system and a weak schedule - are either forgetting or choosing to ignore some key facts:

1) He leads the nation in almost every meaningful statistic for a QB (passing yards, td passes, completion %, passing efficiency). In fact, he dominated - the next guys weren't even close. His freak stats were so good they didn't just lead the nation this season - a lot of his numbers were ALL-TIME SINGLE SEASON RECORDS.

2) What makes Brennan so impressive is his completion % and efficiency rating. The people who bash him because of the system Hawaii uses are partially right... when you pass as much as they do you are going to put up big yardage. But if you pass that much (and you're opponents KNOW you're gonna pass that much) you're not supposed to have that kind of efficiency. That's not the system, that's the players (not just the QB, btw) making plays.

3) All the critics like to bash UH's schedule, but this year they faced 8 teams that had winning records and/or are bowl bound. That is the same number of winning/bowl teams that Ohio St will play this year. Now that DOES NOT mean Hawaii had anywhere near as hard a schedule as Ohio St, but people are so quick to dismiss UH as a non-BCS conference team that they don't realize that thier schedule shouldn't be just dismissed. Division 1a is Division 1a. It's getting a little tiring seeing the double standard and second-class citizen treatment being handed down to all non-bcs conference teams. And it's not like UH has a choice about strength of schedule, a lot of schools don't want to play them - too expensive, big risk with little reward.

Still, as others have mentioned, if he comes back next year and does well he should have a legit chance. That's all you can really ask for.

btw, I think Troy Smith is a great player. I have no problems with him winning, I just think Brennan isn't always getting the full credit he deserves for the stand out season they've had.

Unfortunately he will never get the Heisman playing in the WAC , look at the teams they played this year , then check out next years schedule , pretty weak , really weak , that's not his fault , that's too bad he seems like a good quarterback , yeah he had a good game against a garbage PAC-10 school with a 7-6 record , Let's hope he does not end up like Tommy Chang , Who everybody was saying the same thing about , he went to the next level and is unemployed , he can't even get signed as a 3rd or 4th backup .

NO -- he's in a gimmick offense and plays weak competition, including this Arizona St team that is barely above .500. He probably couldn't get a starting job in the SEC.

Look at some history -- with Andre Ware and David Klingler and all those Texas Tech QBs of the last several years. Lots of high draft picks and a Heisman have already been wasted on these run-n-shoot guys with the gaudy statistics who proved to be utterly mediocre. There is yet to be a college run-n-shoot QB who could even hold down a job in the pros.

Its because Troy Smith is undefeated in t Big Ten one of the tougest conferences in the NCAA. Brennan is good but he is in th WAC and couldnt beat Boise State or Oregan State. If Brennan comes back as senior he will be a top player for heisman and might be able to take Hawaii to a big Bowl game.

Why isn't Boise Sy in National Championship game? Same reason as Brenne not winning the Heisman. Itb is not a major confrence. I don't like it coz Brennen played well tonite and had 5Td along w/ almost 600yds. The College Football system should get rid of this and let mid-major schools play big schools to prove that they can play w/ the elite

no he shouldnt because he plays in a terrible conference for an average team. In order to recieve heisman consideration you have to play for a top team. He plays in the WAC conference whose best team is boise state which is pretty average i mean i could go into the WAC conference and throw 20 touchdowns. He had a great year dont get me wrong but in order to get heisman voting you have to play for a contender.

Colt will have another shot next year. His performance today was impressive, but the decision has already been made for this year.
